How do needles feel?
The needles I use are solid and much finer than those used for injections. In most cases nothing or only a slight prick is felt when the needle goes through the skin. When the needle reaches the acupuncture point, there is another sensation often described as a dull ache or a zing! lasting only 1 or 2 seconds. Many patients feel immediate relaxation and an enlivened spirit from the needling and look forward to the experience as a time when they are cared for. The needle style I practice is called direct needling, where the needle makes contact within seconds directly with your energy and is then removed.
Do I need to use needles to give you a treatment?
No.
I often treat both children and sensitive adults effectively without needles. I will use moxa and do energy work with these clients. The pulses always tell me when and how treatment is progressing.
