Diagnosis and Treatment

Treatment is the process of re-harmonizing the balance of energies within the patient. This is done in two main ways. One is the insertion of fine, stainless steel needles into acupuncture points found along the meridians. Acupuncture points are gateways into the energy of a particular meridian. There are over 350 acupuncture points, 150 of which I use regularly. I chose each point for the specific and specialized effect it has on the meridian. They are phenomenal power houses with exquisite names such as Greater Mountain Stream or Door of Life.

The second is the application of moxa, the herb artemisia, that when heated brings nourishing warmth to the acupuncture point. Generally, one might say that needles move energy, moxa builds energy. These methods are often used in combination. As the balance of energy improves, health improves.

Treatment begins with a comprehensive diagnostic session in which I assess your state of health by gathering information about your symptoms, experience, lifestyle, medical and family history, and physical condition. I determine your constitutional base and assess your energy state through various exams and pulses. As patients come to me in various states of distress and/or shock, these exams provide a relatively clear energetic reading of what’s happening with you. This session ends with a treatment that re-balances your energy. LotusYou, most likely, will feel the difference immediately.

Subsequent sessions include discussion of progress followed by treatment. The course of treatment is individual from person to person and may run from 2-20 sessions, depending on the duration and depth of your condition. Treatment generally begins with weekly sessions, tapering to bimonthly and longer as needed.
